Spend three of your days sailing down Belize’s breathtaking Caribbean coast, fishing, snorkeling or scuba diving. Then imagine camping on your very own isolated island at night. You have never seen the stars like this! The rest of your voyage will be two-fold. First you will have the chance to explore the vast Mayan culture that once ruled Belize with extra adventures like swimming at hidden waterfalls or cave-tubing. And if you desire to give back to this beautiful country you will have the opportunity to give some time to a local village with vast needs. Get to know the people of Belize by serving them with all your heart, and you will never be able to let them out of your mind. Itinerary
Day 1 – Caye Bound (November 7, Monday)
As our group excitedly gathers at the tiny Belize international airport, anticipation will build for a week unlike any other week of your life. After a short journey to the island of Caye Caulker, our explorers will settle into their rooms then enjoy a gathering for drinks and conversation with their BE director. With the only thing in sight but the azure waters of the Caribbean, your ears will take in the gentle beats of the local music and the island vibe will quickly disarm you of all your cares. Take some time to explore the island then gather for an island-hopping briefing. We will end the evening with a Belizean feast prepared by a local chef who creates something new every time we visit.
Day 2 through 4 – Island Hopping Adventure (November 8 – 10, Tuesday through Thursday)
After a delicious breakfast, we assemble at our private sailboat ready to take in the adventure of a lifetime. Your shoes come off before you enter the boat (and you won’t see them for the next 3 days!). As we catch the wind, you’ll feel a peace that will astound the mind and settle the spirit. The next three days will be filled with some of the best snorkeling in the world, deep sea fishing, island camping, laughter and relaxation. Your cares quickly melt away as you learn the rhythm of the seas and life aboard a sailboat. The food will be fabulous and free rum will always be on tap while lively conversation fills every voyage.
The evenings will be spent camping on the beach with only the gentle wind to sway you to sleep. On our final night we will arrive at a small Belizean port and head out to out second home on the journey: our jungle eco-lodge.
Day 5 – Footprints of Kindness (November 11, Friday)
In the morning we will take the team to an unusual shopping experience before we launch into the day.
Today you will have a choice. Activity I: If you would like a day of rest you are welcome to stay at the eco-lodge, lounge around and take the day to relax. Activity II: You might want to partake in one of our side-excursions. For a few extra dollars you can go on a spelunking adventure, a jungle hike or a high ropes challenge. Activity III: Part of the Boundless Expeditions philosophy is that the only footprints we should leave behind are acts of kindness. Why not take a day to serve in a small local village with a great deal of need? You can help create a project that gives back to the town and puts us face to face with local Belizeans who will share of their lives with us. The work will be challenging but the payoff priceless. In the evening we will all gather for a great meal and a time to share our day’s adventures. You might even learn some ways to continue to bring hope and joy to this nation.
Day 6 – Culture, Caves and Celebration (November 12, Saturday)
We have a big day ahead. We start out early and visit some spectacular Mayan ruins before the crowds descend. Walking in the footsteps of Mayan kings is remarkable. We then head to the Saturday market in San Ignacio for a local breakfast and some time to experience a thriving Belizean marketplace. The afternoon will be spent engaging in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure: cave-tubing. Imagine a relaxing river float on your tube on a river flowing into otherworldly cave systems. No worries. Guides will lead the way. After our river-spelunking adventure we will enjoy a gorgeous evening meal as we recount our wonderful week.
Day 7 – The Adventure is Not Over Yet (November 13, Sunday)
Though we are heading back to the U.S. we still have some extra surprises under our belt. A great meal and hidden adventure awaits the team on our final day. This week has surely been one the best of your lives. You’ve created life long memories, deeply touched people in need and forged friendships that will endure. Who knows?
