Itinerary

Day 1 – The Dazzle of the City

Our team will touch down in NYC and converge at our home for the weekend, a sanctuary in the heart of Manhattan. Right off of Central Park, your rooms are clean and have wonderful Victorian touches such as; quilts, fireplace mantles, a bit of chocolate on your nightstand and bathtubs out of the story books. We won’t take too long to settle in because the call of the Big Apple.

We’ll start with a visit to Rockefeller Center and a street dog or pretzel to fuel our walk. We’ll teach you how to navigate the subway and live life underground. Our evening will start at one of the coolest pizza places in the world followed by a night in Times Square. The lights and buzz will dazzle all. As we return to our brownstone home everyone will be thinking about the endless possibilities of the next three days.

Day 2 – Seinfeld, Saints and Central Park

Today we will focus on uptown and central Manhattan. After catching a morning subway we will start our day on the upper Westside at Tom’s Restaurant, otherwise known as the exterior to Seinfeld’s “Monk’s Café.” From there we move to one of the largest Cathedrals in the world and an architectural masterpiece: St. John the Divine. We then move to one of Boundless’ favorite haunts in the world, Central Park. Located in the center of the city, this safe haven is filled with hidden treasures. Our walking tour will show you some well-known park sites and a few out-of-the-way treats. We will work our way to a late lunch then give you some time to peruse one of the wealthiest stretches of road in the world: 5th Avenue. You will have some time to explore, hit a local museum or have a little high-dollar shopping spree. For those who don’t want to venture out on their own there is always some extra exploration with your BE director.

After we gather back at our home to get some rest and catch our breath, we’ll depart for the Village for our weird walking tour of Manhattan’s most colorful neighborhoods. After a delicious evening meal we will allow the group to explore the numerous nooks and crannies of the village or the option of attending an off-Broadway play. We are sure you will look forward to your soft bed tonight.

Day 3 – Footprints Across the City

This morning we will head back to the Village and you will have a choice of several activities. Activity I: If you would like a morning of rest you are welcome to stay at the home base and relax. Shortly before lunch you can meet back with the BE team. Activity II: You might want to explore the East Village on your lazy Saturday morning. Enjoy the parks, unique shops and an eastern European breakfast. Activity III: Part of the Boundless Expeditions philosophy is that the only footprints we should leave behind are acts of kindness. Why not take the morning to serve breakfast to over 500 homeless and immigrants at a dynamic food mission? This is a breakfast as good as any local breakfast bar and everyone can have as much to eat as they want. You will be touched by the smiles and fellowship you’ll share with these amazing individuals.

Now it is time to bite into the heart of the Big Apple: her diverse neighborhoods. After a local lunch we will head down to China Town and Little Italy for an engaging walking tour through these cool neighborhoods. After a delicious cannoli in NYC’s oldest bakery, we’ll take a subway across to Brooklyn and enjoy some of the most beautiful vistas in the city. Then it is time to cross the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. If the group still has energy we may visit Southside Seaport. After another evening meal treat, the rest of the evening is yours.

Day 4 – Final Explorations

This morning we visit the tip of south Manhattan, where the world as we know it changed in a matter of minutes. From Battery Park we will see both Lady Liberty and the Sphere, a reminder of the destruction on that infamous morning of 9/11. After a slow walk to the fireman’s bronze plaque, we’ll go to Ground Zero. We will end our journey in the Chapel of St. Paul where we will contemplate sacrifice.

The team will get to decide one last location to visit then we will enjoy a great final lunch where we will share our stories, our addresses and our laughter. After packing up, Boundless Expeditions will take the group back to the airport in the afternoon… though you’re welcome to stay if you need just a little more of the Big Apple.
